EYELESSIGHT - i-i

How can we define this band? Probably the more appropriate words are Blackgaze / Depressive Black Metal; in fact, Eyelessight has a lot of sounds and styles that characterize these musical genres. Although it contains only four songs, this demo has already laid down base guidelines : atmospheres are well marked and the vocal is one of the strengths that distinguish the young band. The track "Vuota Solitudine" has a classic Depressive rhythm, the vocal is very intense and the interpretation is almost perfect, the guitars properly distorted form an infernal background, which we find in the other tracks too. "Dolorestatico" is pure suffering translated into music: at some moments a lulling guitar accompanies the melancholic musical base, and even here the expressiveness of the singer remains impeccable; I personally consider that the song "7:12" is the best from the instrumental viewpoint, since the riffs are speed up and are put sharper focus than the other tracks. The album ends more energetically due to “Odd”: the drums are more important in continuing. I would say that this is a good start.
They deserve to be heard.

FROSTAGRATH – A DEPICTION OF A MELANCHOLIC REALITY

FrostAgratH is a one man, Depressive Black Metal band from Cairo, Egitto. In the demo there are only 2 tracks: following the melancholic intro "Reflection of a Bleeding Soul", there is the second and last track “A Depiction of a Melancholic Reality”.The influences of Mayhem and Nocturnal Depression style are very present, in fact the drums keep a slow pace for the first part of the song, then the sound strengthens and speeds up with the double bass drum; guitars create a wistful sound: it stuns and confuses; good the voice too, distorted and "smothered".
Cute beginning, I'm curious to hear the next works.

SUICIDE EMOTIONS – LAST CUT…

Suicide Emotions is a solo Depressive Black Metal project that was born in 2012 in Bari. It's a particular beginning, with a change from the desperate scream to a true whine, so the instrumental base is significant, while many bands often give more importance to the voice. After the instrumental intro ”Nostalgia…”, there's “Sad Emotions Pt. I”: the guitars make an "infernal" background, the rhythm of the drums is the characteristic Depressive pace and the suffering shouts create a truly state of malaise. The following track is “Sad Emotions Pt. II”: same style but faster sounds, in fact the tune stands out, but not too much.
The instrumental track "Suffocation" is between "Sad Emotions Pt III" and "Sad Emotion Pt IV" : melancholic sounds and the drums try to create rhythms with plates and snare. Another detachment from the quadruplet of sad emotions is "Wonderful Vision of Suicide", a very sad and suffering song with the piano in the final part. “Suicide” is the final track, a calm and relaxing instrumental track. In the album many rhythms are repeated and prolonged, so the product seems dull during the first listening, but already from the second the album will be more clear. Everything started with a simple nostalgia, but it was too long and as it began as it ended with a simple and hard suicide.

ETERNAL SAMHAIN – OBSCURITATIS PRINCIPIUM

Eternal Samhain was born in Verona in 2006; shortly after they presented themselves as a strong and tenacious Symphonic Black Metal band. Listening to the album, we find significant influences with Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir style but not without more extreme influences, such as Marduk and Dark Funeral. After the symphonic and harmonious intro, there is "blackframe": in this track the voice often changes intonation, in fact singing in Shagarth mode often changes, as in reciting Emperor Magus Caligula (this change can also be found in the following tracks), while the guitars have a sound that is not prominence, keyboards create a sweet and lulling background that strangely fits. "Vas Damnationis" has a faster drums than the previous song, the voice tone reminds to Dani Filth in albums such as "Damnation and a Day,"; "Sinful in every Choice" reminds me of Marduk with fast riffs, some melodic parts distinguish the song from the other. The album ends with "Obscuritatis Principium": the intro style reminds me of the album "Cradle of Filth - Goodspeed in the Devil's Thunder", the drums often stop the pace with fast passages, guitars accompany the flawless keyboard, such as during the whole album.A band that is probably far better than Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth in many aspects; a beginning with a bang!

BIG STEEL SHIT – SHIT HAPPENS

Big Steel Shit was born in Taranto in 2006 from an idea by three friends.A long series of unfortunate events force them to continue changes of line-up, but they finally stabilized in 2010 and released their first LP "Greavy."Shortly after the drummer was replaced and the band reaches the maturity to publish this new album, "Shit Happens". The young band wants to combine Alternative Metal with Post-Grunge, and I may say that they have succeeded in their aim with their album: there are many influences of bands like Alter Bridge, Alice in Chains and Avenged Sevenfold (without Metalcore). The first track "Lard" incorporates riffs resembling those Power/Thrash, but the talent of the guitarist can be heard only in the next. The riff of "Godsons" reminds me of the general style of Mushroomhead, with a pitched, electrical and mysterious sound; "It Barks Rage" and "Stoned by Reality" are more reminiscent Avenged Sevenfold due fast rhythms and melodic riffs. Good tracks are "Misleading", a song that is very close to a ballad but it focuses on the vocal line; the style of "Waiting for the Bus" may resemble System of a Down, in fact the song has "lightning" rhythmic changes and double/triple voice, all properly mixed. An album that belies any injury, an Italian band wants to create something new; a product of a discrete band that promises well, least for the time.

FOGALORD – A LEGEND TO BELIVE IN

Fogalord is an Epic / Symphonic / Power Metal Italian band. Power is often accused of being monotonous and repetitive, but it is not the case Fogalord, their incredible guests make them unique and full of experience (Ex Rhapsody / Necrodeath / Ancient Bards / Labyrinth / Mastercastle). The album tells the story of a warlord who adventures in remote misty moors, but the story is inspired by the birthplace of the singer Dany All, Carpi. The concept starts with "Follow the Fog," an epic intro that embraces the warrior and intimidating spirit of the band; then we have "At the Gates of Silent Storm", a very fast song for the battery, while the guitars are limited with riffs and solos of the classic Power, everything is well linked by a triumph of trumpets, which gives a touch of epicness. Tracks like "The Fog Lord" and "The scream of the Thunder" have very symphonic sounds, catchy and exciting refrains, but there is the good musicians's technique. Other great tracks are "A Day of Fire" and "The March of the gray Army", both well mixed and processed. Are Fogalord the heirs of Rhapsody? A band that will bravely and without fear fight to take over the throne; a great album that surely will lead the young band in battle.

MOSH-PIT JUSTICE - THE SERPENT

Mosh-Pit Justice is a Power / Tharsh Metal band from Bulgaria.
The project is quite varied, in fact really stand out influences Overkill-style, there are also Progressive and a bit of Doom. The album starts with "In Dollar We Trust", the battery switches "lightning" pace with the slower ones, the double bass drum is often used but the steps are almost absent; the guitars: riffs groove in some moments, but in others purely Thrash; the bass is perfectly in harmony with the double bass drum, and the voice in the chorus approaches to Power Metal.
In "Blood of the Tyrant" the drums are much more present but they've the classical speed of the band.
The song that gives the name to the album ("The Serpent") is good too, the guitar mixes Thrash and Power, so the song takes a different look and stands out more than the other tracks. The album ends with "Posers Genocide," a song that reminds me Commando (Yutacàn). A good band that incorporates various aspects of Overkill.
